Digital Design and Animation Quarter 2-Blog 2 Design Basics for Beginners Using design basics can sometimes be difficult for beginning artists who are trying to join the game design industry. As a beginning artist, I was introduced to the basics of game design in understanding the different functions that can be used in the software. Design basics functions such as drawing, cutting, erasing, coloring and sizing are the key functions used to making one perfect art sample. There are some positives and negatives to using design basics functions. Some positives are coloring, drawing and editing which makes the artist more comfortable with the software. These positives have important roles in the software that would allow you to do amazing and useful art samples. As some functions can be positive, there are some negatives and challenges to using design basics. Negatives such as utilizing command keys and tools can sometimes become difficult in advancing art samples. Command keys are often used as "shortcuts" to finish art samples faster with no complications. Command keys are meant to be memorized in utilizing each command key function. But sometimes, the difficult part is memorizing the command key function. As I am finding positives and negatives of using design basics, I will continue to try my best in mastering the art of game design.
